Former Brock Basketball coach Ken Murray will be inducted into the Ontario Basketball Association Hall of Fame on Monday, Feb. 11.
Murray will be inducted alongside Bill Coulthard (athlete), Gene Schaaf (official) and Darren Thomas (athlete).Â
The Class of 2018 will be honoured at halftime during the Toronto Raptors game on Monday, Feb. 11. A pre-game induction celebration will take place in Toronto near Scotiabank Arena.
Murray served as the Brock men's basketball coach from 1989-2010.
He led the program to its first national championship in 1992 and claimed a second national title in 2008.
Murray was named Canadian Interuniversity Sport Coach of the Year twice (1989 and 1992) and holds the most all-time wins in Brock basketball history with 535 victories.
Murray guided the team to a total of five CIS Final 8 tournaments.
Murray played five years (1972–1977) at Brock, and was named MVP during all five seasons he suited up for the Badgers. He was also a Conference All-Star four times (1973–1976).
In 1996, Murray was inducted as an athlete into the Brock Athletics Hall of Fame and the Brock Basketball Hall of Fame in its inaugural year in 2009.
Prior to beginning his historic career at Brock, Murray was first head coach of the University of Regina men's basketball team (1982–89). He was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Coach of the Year twice while at Regina. During his last season with the team, he led the Cougars to the final four at the National Championship and was named 1989 CIAU Coach of the Year.
In 2011, Murray joined the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame as an athlete and a builder. Additionally, he is only the second individual to be named St. Catharines Sportsman of the Year twice, which he earned in 1992 and 2008 following Brock's National Championship victories.
