Goalkeeper Marilena Spagnolo recorded her sixth clean sheet of the season as the Brock women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with the Guelph Gryphons at Brock Alumni Field on Friday.
The tie ensures the Badgers are headed to the playoffs for a second consecutive season.
"When these women go out there, work together and believe in each other, you could almost pay to see this team play, it's that good," said assistant coach John DiPasquale. "We nuked the way they played before and every now and then they slip back into uncomfortable areas, but they're a resilient group."
Spagnolo made nine saves to hold the Gryphons scoreless for only the second time this season.
"We would have loved to pressure this team up high, but as it stands right now we don't have the fitness level for that," said DiPasquale. "When there are dark clouds all around, our back line and keeper are there for us. In the first half we were a little jumpy, but then the ebb and flow of their play got better. They should be really proud."
Sydney Sica tallied two shots, while Jenavieve Agro and Adrianna Belfer-Marin each registered a shot.
Up next, the Badgers (4-3-4) host the Laurier Golden Hawks (1-7-3) on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
