Daniel Cayer scored 23 points and hauled down 16 rebounds as the Brock men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 76-67 win over the visiting Guelph Gryphons at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday.
"We had the services of Daniel Cayer in the fourth quarter," said head coach Willy Manigat. "We still have a long way to go and we have to continue to get better. I want our guys to enjoy the fight."
The Badgers led 41-31 at halftime, however the Gryphons crept up the scoreboard in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Brock's defence stood tall and pulled off a couple of steals.
Cayer recorded five steals. Godsman Kwakwah scored all 10 of his points in the second half, and went four-for-four at the free throw line alongside teammate Aaron Golbourne, who poured in a total of 15 points.
Kascius Small-Martin recorded 13 points and seven rebounds.
Brock shot 39 per cent (29-for-74) compared to Guelph's 33.8 per cent (25-for-74).
The Gryphons were led by Rasheed Weekes, who scored 20 points and 10 boards.
Up next, the Badgers (2-2) host the Algoma Thunderbirds (1-3) on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m.
