Women's volleyball: Badgers secure fifth consecutive win

The Brock women's volleyball team extended their win streak to five games with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-22) win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Sunday.

The second-place Badgers improve to 10-5 and are setting their sights on the playoffs.

"We still have some work to do to make playoffs, because it's so tight in the West standings," said head coach Steve Delaney. "We were able to get everyone playing time today as well, which is strong for our development."

Third-year libero Julia Balatbat was named Player of the Game. Balatbat scored two service aces and three digs.

"She was fantastic on defence and from the service line," said Delaney. "She made some big digs for us."

Tori Carroll and Laura Condotta each scored six kills. Condotta added eight digs and Caroll chipped in a service ace.

Alanna Norris recorded seven digs and Grace Edwards secured five kills, three service aces and four digs.

Delaney added that the Badgers have a pair of tough games this weekend which could make or break their season.

"We need to get better and make the small adjustments moving forward," he said. "

Brock hosts back-to-back home games versus the York Lions (7-6) on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. and the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
