The Brock women's hockey team has lost only three games this year. All by scores of 1-0.
The Badgers lost their second consecutive game by just a goal, a 1-0 shootout loss in Guelph, on Saturday, Nov. 27.
Brock's defensive battles have been under the league average of 1.8 goals per game.
"Most of our losses feel like close games on the ice. It usually comes down to which team can capitalize on the other's mistakes," said captain Kaitlyn Colonna. "It's about being the team that makes the least amount of mistakes."
After regulation solved nothing, Saturday's match descended into overtime.
In OT, Mikayla Flanagan and Kaitlyn Colonna generated dangerous scoring chances, but Guelph goalie Martina Fedel shut the door.
Badgers netminder Aline Hironaka made a juggling save to stop an attacking Tori Verbeek with less than 30 seconds remaining.
Jaime Magoffin won the game for Guelph in the shootout. Hironaka finished with 31 saves.
Next, the Badgers (3-2-3) look to wrap up the first half of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season at home versus the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 5:15 p.m. Get your tickets here.
