Lall shines in debut as Badgers rout Hawks

TJ Lall scored 31 points in just 16 minutes of action during the Brock Badgers' 95-74 road victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks.

Lall shot 63 per cent (11-of-18) from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers. It was the fifth-year guard's first game in a Badgers uniform as he went seven-for-eight from the free-throw line while adding five rebounds, a block and a steal.

"It felt good to finally get on the court. After a long summer of training it was very exciting to finally play in a real game again," said Lall, a fifth-year Psychology student from Cambridge. "We have a talented group of players. We look forward to getting better every day."

Brock opened the game with a 32-7 lead after the first quarter. Laurier narrowly outscored Brock in the second and third. The Badgers generated 19 points in turnovers.

The Badgers had four players reach double figures in scoring.

Godsman Kwakwah scored 14 points and collected six rebounds as Kascius Small-Martin and Emmanuel Owoo-toah each recorded 12 points.

Brock received a total of 54 points from players coming off the bench.

"That's the exciting part about this group. Everybody on this team brings something to our lineup," said head coach Willy Manigat. "It's appealing from a coach's perspective because each one brings their own skillset. That's what a team is about."

Brock shot 44.8 per cent (30-of-67) from the floor and scored nine three-point shots.

Kwakwah, Small-Martin, Daniel Cayer, Asare Otchere and Isaiah Bufdoso started for Brock.

Next, the Badgers (2-0) travel to Thunder Bay for back-to-back road games against the Lakehead Thunderwolves (1-1) on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13. Both games start at 8 p.m.
