Men's Hockey: Penalty trouble sinks Badgers

The Brock Badgers ran into penalty trouble during a 3-2 loss to the Rams at Seymour-Hannah Arena on Saturday, Nov. 6.

In the first period, the Rams opened the scoring with a power-play goal and ended the game with a tally on the man advantage.

Brock outshot the Rams 32-19.

"We gave them a lot of time and space, and against that team, they'll burn you every time," said interim head coach Kevin Forrest. "We showed in the third the right way to play but unfortunately didn't bring it in the first or second."

Brock senior forward Frankie Pucci tied the game up in the first. Adam Berg and Jared Marino each earned assists.

The Rams took the lead before the end of the frame.

"It wasn't the start we wanted to have, but I thought we bounced back and started to play our game," said defenceman Cole Thiessen.

After a scoreless second period, Tyler Rollo scored the game-tying goal on a wraparound goal to start the third. Ryan Burton and Justin Brack each added an assist on Rollo's first marker of the season.

The Rams scored the winning goal on the power-play in the third period.

"Some of the bounces didn't go our way, but we gotta pick our heads up and get ready for the next one," Thiessen said.

Next, the Badgers (1-1) travel to Toronto to play the Varsity Blues (0-0) on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

The Badgers are back in action on Thursday in Toronto as they take on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. The game will be live streamed on OUA.tv.
