CALGARY - Continuing their 2022 preseason schedule, the Brock Badgers men's basketball team played a trio of games in Calgary as part of the annual Calgary Cup exhibition event.
GAME 1: Brock 97 Calgary 82
Leading from start to finish, the Badgers knocked off the host Dinos to open their weekend of action. Point guard
Isaiah Bujdoso led the way for Brock with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, plus four made free throws.
Daniel Caldwell and
Jesse Barnes also added double-digit points with 15 and 12, while 10 different players notched six or more points in the complete team effort. Calgary's Noah Wharton led all scorers with a game-high 24 points in 34 minutes on the floor.
GAME 2: Brock 76 Regina 68
After falling behind 21-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Badgers slowly closed the gap before taking the lead to claim the win in the fourth. Another strong team performance, five Badgers players hit double-digit points led by 16 from
Michael Matas. Adding six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals, Matas delivered in his 17 total minutes of action in the win. Meanwhile, Bujdoso and Caldwell were exceptional once again with both scoring 12 points.
GAME 3: UBC 81 Brock 79
A close back-and-forth matchup throughout, Brock was led by their veterans in the close tightly contested two-point loss. Veteran forward
Jesse Barnes notched a team-high 15 points for the Badgers, adding five rebounds and a block in 20 minutes. Fifth-year guard
Kascius Small-Martin also tallied a team-high 15 points, while recording four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Despite struggling from the floor, Bujdoso was a defensive standout in the final game of the road trip for the Badgers registering seven steals.
Brock will conclude their preseason with a home contest versus the Mount Royal Cougars this coming Friday, Oct. 14. The game will be played at Canada Games Park with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
