HAMILTON - Entering the OUA quarter-final contest as the No. 6 seed in the OUA playoffs, the Brock Badgers women's rugby team delivered in a 23-17 upset victory over the third place McMaster Marauders on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Badgers advance to the OUA semifinals, guaranteeing themselves a shot at an OUA medal this season.
On the pitch, action was back-and-forth for a majority of the contest with Brock trailing the Marauders 17-13 early in the second half. The Badgers were able to turn it on late scoring 10 unanswered points to secure the road win and their place in the final four.
A trio of Badgers reached the try zone with
Jessica Darby,
Grace Dale, and
Sierra Austin all being credited with single markers. Scoring for Brock was then rounded out by a convert and two penalty kicks from the foot of
Paige DeNeve.
Brock will remain on the road for their OUA semifinal match with an opponent and time to be confirmed early in the week.
