Brock gets knocked off by Toronto on home ice

ST CATHARINES - The Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell 3-1 to the No. 4 nationally ranked Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday afternoon at Canada Games Park.

Following a scoreless first period, the visiting Varsity Blues offence exploded for 17 shots in the second period to just three for the Badgers. The offensive burst from the visitors resulted in three second period goals all coming within a three minute stretch.

Facing a deficit, the Badgers mounted scoring opportunities late in the second frame, with Madeline Nicholson converting on a scramble in front of the Varsity Blues net to cut into the Toronto lead. The goal marked the first career OUA marker for Nicholson.

However, an even third period would see neither team find the back of the net again as all four goals would be potted in the second.

Making her first OUA regular season start in net, Badgers goalie Kenzie Harmison finished the Sunday afternoon outing with 33 total saves.

Brock will hit the road next weekend first traveling to Oshawa to face the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday, Oct. 28. Puck drop for the road contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game available to stream on OUA.TV.
