WATERLOO - Traveling to challenge the Laurier Golden Hawks on Thursday night, the No. 5 nationally ranked Brock Badgers men's hockey team won their fourth consecutive game to begin the 2022-23 season by a final score of 4-2.
Continuing his hot start to the season with a goal in each of the three previous wins, Badgers team captain
Jared Marino added two more scoring the first two goals of the Thursday night contest to quickly put Brock ahead 2-0 after 20 minutes. Marino now has five goals in four games.
Laurier were able to get a goal back in the second period on the powerplay, but a third period marker from
Jacob Roach just 20 seconds into the final frame would become the game-winner for the Badgers. An empty-netter from Roach in the final minute would seal the deal for Brock and push Roach's season totals to seven points in four games played (3G, 4A).
Christian Girhiny registered an assist on three of the four Brock goals, while goaltender
Aidan Hughes earned the win notching 36 total saves.
