ST CATHARINES - Concluding their preseason schedule, the Brock Badgers men's volleyball team earned a pair of straight set victories over the RMC Paladins on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
In their first match on Friday night the Badgers defeated the Paladins 25-17, 25-13, 25-17.
Sauli Lianga was sensational in the quick three set win posting 19.5 total points from 11 kills, seven service aces, one block, and one block assist. Also reaching double-digits for the Badgers,
Nanle Yusuf finished with 11.5 points courtesy 11 kills and a block assist. Brock setter
Grant Reddon registered 31 assist, while libero
Ethan Kalef tallied nine digs defensively.
The Badgers then followed that with a 25-13, 25-20, 25-23 effort on Saturday afternoon versus RMC. Three Brock players reached double-digit points including 14.5 from
Kylar Code, 11.5 from Lianga, and 10 courtesy
Kersey Robinson.
Nolan Shapcott served as the Badgers setter in the second outing versus the Paladins, recording 36 assists, while
Justin Rulli-Levere notched eight digs from the libero position.
Next up for the Badgers is the start of the OUA regular season, beginning the new campaign with a home-and-home matchup versus the Guelph Gryphons. The season opener will take place in Guelph on Saturday Nov. 12, before returning to the Bob Davis Gym on Sunday, Nov. 13. The Sunday home opener is scheduled for first serve at 3 p.m. with tickets available for purchase at
