KINGSTON - Winning their second straight game, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team defeated the Queen's Gaels by shootout in Kingston on Saturday night.
Following a quiet first period, the Gaels were first to score taking advantage of a powerplay opportunity to jump ahead 1-0 less than a minute into the second frame.
Battling back,
Madison Cronkwright was able to snap a top shelf goal midway through the third period to even the game. Both the remaining regulation time and overtime would solve nothing.
Heading into a shootout, the combination of a
Mishayla Christensen goal and
Kenzie Harmison save in the seventh round secure the road victory for the Badgers. Harmison finished the night with a staggering 61 saves for her first win of the season.
The Badgers return home to Canada Games Park next Friday, Nov. 4 where they will challenge the Queen's Gaels in the second game of a home-and-home series. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com with the game also available to watch online at OUA.TV.
