Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Jordon Hall

Dramatic finish results in OT loss for Brock

ST CATHARINES – Facing off against Queen's for the second time in just six days, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime at Canada Games Park on Friday night.

After 40 minutes of strong defensive hockey between the familiar foes the excitement level peaked in the final three minutes of regulation.

Brock was the first beneficiary as they were able to end the stalemate courtesy a powerplay marker from Rebekah Feld. A  long distance seeing eye wrister, the shot made its way past the blocker of the Queen's goalie to put the Badgers ahead in the closing minutes.

However, with only 29 second remaining in the contest the Gaels were able to find an equalizer as Quinn Johnston squeezed the puck through a crowd in front of Brock goaltender Kenzie Harmison.

Then just nine seconds into overtime Queen's forward Sarah Campbell jammed home the game-winning goal as she went directly into the Brock net.

Harmison finished the night with 27 total saves, while Queen's goalie Lexi Giorgi recorded 25 saves in the win.

Brock will look to rebound quickly as they are right back on the ice tomorrow afternoon challenging the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at Canada Games Park. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tickets for the game can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, while the game will also be streamed on OUA.TV.
