Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Jordon Hall

No. 3 Brock drops overtime thriller to No. 8 Lakehead

ST CATHARINES - In a contest of two nationally ranked teams, the No. 3 Brock Badgers men's basketball team fell 92-90 in overtime to the No. 8 Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night at Bob Davis Gym.

The back-and-forth contest saw the Badgers achieve an early 14 point lead over the Thunderwolves in the first quarter. However, the Thunderwolves were determined to climb back as they slowly chipped away at the deficit. A Jevon Brown three-point basket for Brock with just 45 seconds remaining allowed the Badgers to take a 78-75 lead late, but Nathan Bilamu responded for the Thunderwolves with a deep three of his own to force overtime. In the extra period Lakehead pulled away courtesy a three-pointer from Alston Harris and put-back tip from Eric Gonzalez and secured the victory.

Despite the loss, Brock shot exceptionally well finishing 46 percent from the field, while holding the Thunderwolves to just 36 percent shooting. However, three point shooting made the difference for Lakehead in the win as they nailed 14 field goals from behind the arc to just five for the home side.

Leading the Badgers offensively was Isaiah Bujdoso and Godsman Kwakwah who both finished with a team-high 14 points. Bujdoso added five rebounds, four assists, and two steals to his statline, while Kwakwah registered two rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Both Kascius Small-Martin and Jevonnie Scott recorded double-digits for the Badgers as well, each finishing with 12 points apiece.

Coming off the bench for the Thunderwolves Javier Fernandez led all players with 21 points, while Gonzalez and Bilamu notched 20 and 18, respectively.

Brock and Lakehead will be right back at it tomorrow evening at Bob Davis Gym in the second game of a weekend doubleheader. Tip off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting brocku.universitytickets.com, while the game will also be available to stream on OUA.TV.
