ST CATHARINES - Challenging Lakehead for the second time in two days, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team earned a clean sweep with a 72-57 Saturday night win over the Thunderwolves at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The victory comes on the heels of a decisive 53-29 win over Lakehead the night before.
In the Saturday meeting, Brock benefited from strong rebounding grabbing 43 boards to just 25 for the Thunderwolves. Most impressive was on the offensive glass where the Badgers were able to pull down 17 offensive rebounds in total, which led to 12 second chance points.
Notching a new career-high,
Madalyn Weinert led all players in the win with 25 points, including a 9-for-10 night at the free throw line. The current Brock Badgers athlete of the week delivered a double-double effort adding 13 rebounds, eight of which were from the offensive glass. She also registered five assists and one steal to round out her stat line.
Brock saw two others reach double-digits in the win including 15 points from
Olivia Fiorucci and 13 points for
Allison Addy.
The Thunderwolves were led by Tiffany Reynolds and Sawa Azzolini who both recorded 11 points in the loss.
Brock remain at home for another week welcoming the Waterloo Warriors to Bob Davis Gym on Friday, Nov. 18. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. Tickets for the contest can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, while the game is also available online via OUA.TV.
