ST CATHARINES - Welcoming the Waterloo Warriors to Bob Davis Gym on Friday night in a battle of undefeated teams, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team came up short in a 78-47 loss.
Â
The Badgers entered the Friday night contest as one of the best rebounding teams in the OUA through the early part of the new season, but versus the Warriors they struggled on the boards being out-rebounded 46-27. Combined with a strong full court defence that allowed Waterloo to score 27 points off turnovers, a strategy was executed which Brock could not find an answer to.
Madalyn Weinert and
Noor Bazzi led the Badgers in scoring with 12 and 10 points, with both players shooting 4-for-11 from the field.
Allison Addy added another eight points off the bench for Brock, while Weinert registered a team-high five rebounds.
Â
Four Warriors players reached double-digits in the win, led by a game-high 15 points from Vanessa Hughes. A force on the glass, Summer Pahl notched 11 points and eight rebounds, including four offensive boards and three steals for Waterloo.
Â
Brock hits the road tomorrow evening traveling to Hamilton to take on the McMaster Marauders. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. with the game available online via OUA.TV.
