Cormier scores game-winner in Waterloo

WATERLOO – The Brock Badgers women's hockey team defeated the Waterloo Warriors 1-0 on Saturday night in Waterloo.

The victory ends a five-game slide for the Badgers, while also marking their first shutout effort of the 2022-23 campaign.

Tied 0-0 after 40 minutes, the third period was a penalty filled affair which saw the Warriors receive 10 minutes worth of penalties in the physical final frame. However, it was when the Badgers found themselves down a player from the second of their two third period penalties that Brock was able to strike and score the eventual game-winner.

Catriona Cormier potted her third goal of the season as she worked a penalty-killing forecheck where she was able to take advantage of a costly turnover by the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Brock goaltender Tiffany Hsu earned the shutout making 23 total saves in the win.

Brock conclude a four-game road swing back in Waterloo next Friday, Nov. 25 when they will face the Laurier Golden Hawks. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the game available to stream on OUA.TV.
