Third consecutive loss for Brock women’s basketball

TORONTO – The Brock Badgers women's basketball team fell 66-58 to the York Lions in Toronto on Friday night.

With another slow start Brock fell behind 25-11 following the first quarter. The Badgers struggled on the boards as York was able to outrebound the visitors 34-16. Despite closing the gap to six points heading into the half, Brock was unable to complete a come-from-behind effort.

The Badgers were led in scoring by Theresa Brown who notched a game-high 16 points in 33 minutes of action. Brock second-year forward Olivia Fiorucci also reached double-digits in over 30 minutes played finishing with 12 points. Oluwatito Akinunusi was strong off the bench for the Badgers adding nine points, four rebounds, and two steals.

York has a trio of double-digit scorers in the win including Lauren Golding who registered a team-high 13 points, while also notching nine rebounds and two assists.

Brock will look to get back in the win column as they finish their fall schedule at home in Bob Davis Gym next weekend hosting the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees. Action begins Friday, Dec. 2 versus Carleton at 6 p.m., followed by the Gee-Gees on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. Tickets for both games can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, while the games will also be streamed on OUA.TV.
