ST. CATHARINES - With the 2022 Ontario Seniors taking place right on campus at the new Canada Games Park a number of Brock Badgers wrestlers competed at the provincial event this past weekend.
Reaching the top step of the podium,
Max Budgey achieved the top result of any of the Brock Badger men on the day. Budgey achieved a first place finish in the 79kg category with an 11-0 final match win versus the Hamilton Wrestling Club.
Other results for the Brock men included third place finishes for both
Callum Knox (97kg) and
Roger Li (125kg), along with fifth places for the trio of
Bobby Narwal (74kg),
Gabriel Blanchette (70kg), and
Gabriel Sementilli (57kg).
For the Brock Badgers women, Jessica Tillmans defeated Independent Wrestling Club 12-2 to claim first overall in the 65kg category.
Also achieving strong results
Vanessa Keefe and
Samantha Adams placed second and third in the 68kg event, while
Michaela Rankin scored a fifth (62kg) and
Brooklyn Brown placed sixth (53kg).
The next OUA-based event on the calendar for the Badgers is the Brock Invitational where they will welcome teams from across the province to Brock University on Saturday, Jan. 14 in the new year.
