Brock delivers complete team win in season opener

ST CATHARINES - The Brock Badgers men's basketball team opened their new season with an 87-69 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night in Toronto.

With every Badgers player on the roster recording a point in the win, Brock showcased the complete team effort and depth they have entering into the new 2022-23 OUA season. Following a 26 point first quarter scoring, the Badgers put the defensive clamps on Toronto holding the home side to single-digits (9) in the second frame. Building up to their largest lead of 27 points in the third quarter, the Varsity Blues never appeared to be a threat to the win for Brock. The Badgers finished the victory shooting 50 percent from both the floor and behind the three point line, while also recording more rebounds, assists, and bench points.

Leading the Badgers offensively, Daniel Caldwell scored a team-high 14 points in just 15 minutes, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Both Godsman Kwakwah and Jevon Brown added 12 points apiece, while Isaiah Bujdoso delivered on a nice stat line of seven points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Brock now returns to Bob Davis Gym for their home opener versus the Laurier Golden Hawks tomorrow night. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tickets for the Badgers home opener can be purchased by visiting brocku.universitytickets.com, while all Brock basketball games will be available to stream on OUA.TV.
