No. 4 Badgers improve to 7-0

For the first time in more than two months, the No. 4 Brock women's volleyball team played an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) game at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

On Sunday, Feb. 13, the Badgers held off the visiting Windsor Lancers 3-1 (27-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-21) to close out their first set of games since returning to OUA play this past week.

The game contained no spectators as Brock University takes measures to phase in a safe return to campus to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease. As a result, limited-capacity events on campus will start the week of Monday, Feb. 21.

The Badgers' winning set streak ended at 16 when the Lancers won the second set on Sunday.

"We were pushed and overcame adversity, so it was a good win for us," said head coach Steve Delaney. "Our game could have been cleaner; however, we need some gritty wins under our belt. Any good team has to be battle-tested."

Sadie Dick led the Badgers with 14 kills.

As a team, the Badgers hit an overall .184 (55-30-136) with the fourth set for their highest hitting percentage (.300) of the day. Brock recorded a season-high 55 total kills.

In the second, the Badgers battled back from trailing by as many as five points before the Lancers held on the for the win as Brock committed a service and attack error by Brock.

Madison Chimienti and Emily Foest each recorded their fourth double-digit kill game of the season with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Brock held Windsor to .133 (37-21-120). Windsor outblocked Brock 10-7. Christina Jovetic led the Badgers with four blocks. Aleiah Torres led all players with 15 digs.
