Brock men's volleyball team extends win streak

The Brock men's volleyball team extended its win streak to four games on Sunday, Feb. 13.

In their return to Bob Davis Gymnasium, the Badgers defeated the Windsor Lancers 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 12-25, 25-16).

The game contained no spectators as Brock University takes measures to phase in a safe return to campus to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease. As a result, limited-capacity events on campus will start the week of Monday, Feb. 21.

The match remained closely contested despite no one in attendance.

The first two sets ended with the same 25-21 score favouring the Badgers, followed by the Lancers coming out strong in the third set, taking it 25-12.

"I loved the playoff intensity of the game today. It was an adjustment without any fans, but the guys controlled the pace of play," said head coach Matt Ragogna. "We dropped our guard in the third set, but the guys bounced back nicely in the fourth."

After committing more errors than kills, the Badgers finished strong by winning the fourth and final set 25-16 and hitting for .350.

Logan House led the way offensively for the Badgers with 12 kills, followed by Nanle Yusuf with nine and Kylar Code with six.

Defensively, Christopher Chapman led Brock with seven blocks. Logan House added five, and Jacob Ferland secured two.

Overall, the Badgers led the way in almost every stat, including points (56-42), kills (39-33), blocks (10-2), assists (29-37), and digs (21-18).

"I love how fierce our guys are. We know we are getting our feet wet in this new territory as a program," Ragogna said. "We know what we can control and where we want to be at the end of the season."

The Badgers (6-2) travel to Waterloo on Wednesday, Feb. 23, for an 8 p.m. match with the Warriors (2-6). Livestream the game on OUA.tv.
