Bujdoso, No. 4 Badgers fly by Hawks to open OUA playoffs

Second-year guard Isaiah Bujdoso poured in a career-high 17 points and the No. 4 Brock men's basketball team kicked off the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Wilson Cup playoffs with a victory on Saturday, March 19.

The Badgers clipped the Laurier Golden Hawks by a score of 82-58 in their OUA quarter-final match at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

"You live for games that matter. Playoff basketball is another level, and I like its desperateness," said Willy Manigat, who captured his first playoff win as head coach at Brock. "The most desperate team has the best chance of winning the game."

Brock advances to the OUA semifinal where they will host the McMaster Marauders on Wednesday, March 23 at 8 p.m.

Bujdoso, a Social Sciences student from Hamilton, shot 43.8 per cent from the field, grabbed four rebounds and dished out five assists.

He connected on back-to-back three-pointers to give Brock a sizable lead in the second quarter.

"I had to step in with confidence and knock them down," Bujdoso said. "Before this game, we talked about how we opened this season against Laurier. Both teams grew throughout the year, but we wanted to prove that we grew more than they did."

The Badgers had four players in double-digits as Kascius Small-Martin netted 17 points, including five threes. Godsman Kwakwah and Tajinder Lall scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Lall contributed nine boards and seven assists.

Brock led by as many as 24 points in the fourth. Defensively, the Badgers allowed a season-low 58 points against.
