Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Stephen Leithwood

Badgers look forward to first playoff game in two years

The Brock women's hockey team is preparing to compete in their fourth consecutive trip to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) McCup Cup playoffs.

The Badgers finished in third place in the OUA West with a record of 5-5-2-3 after dropping their last game of the regular season by a score of 4-3 in overtime in Waterloo on Saturday, March 5.

Brock will go straight to the OUA quarter-final where they will meet the second-place Gryphons (5-2-5-1) in Guelph on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.

"Playoff hockey is a whole different game. If you don't bring you're A-game every game then you won't come out with a win," said senior defenceman Paige Cohoon. "I can speak on behalf of most athletes by saying that we are just happy to be out there playing again, but making it to playoffs is a plus."

Saturday's match is a single-game elimination knockout and will be the first post-season game for the Badgers in two years.

"We are all confident heading into playoffs because our team is one big family. We know every time we show up to the rink that the person sitting to your left and your right is there to win, not for themselves but for each other too," added Cohoon. "We all would sacrifice anything for one another and that combined with how hard-working this team is will hopefully take us far."
