ST. CATHARINES - Home at Alumni Field for the first time in their 2022 season, the Brock men's soccer team delivered a 1-0 victory over the visiting Windsor Lancers in a rainy Sunday afternoon contest.
Following a stalemated first half which saw a 0-0 score at the break the Badgers saw themselves spurred on following the second half substitution of second-year striker
Michael Solomon. Adding extra pressure each time the Lancers attempted to clear their own end Solomon and the Badgers were able to force Windsor into several turnovers to maintain possession throughout. The key turnover came near the 70th minute when Brock was able to counter-attack down the right side of the pitch before a
Luca Danesi cross found the head of Solomon who deposited the ball into the back of the net for what would be the game-winner.
The Badgers were strong defensively throughout the entire 90 minutes as captain
Antonio DiGiovanni and fellow defender
Nolan Bosetti put a stop to several Lancer attacks, while second-year Brock keeper
Taylor Miskolczi turned aside three total shots including a dangerous attempt from a Windsor free kick late in the contest.
Brock will look to keep the momentum going when they welcome the Waterloo Warriors to Alumni Field this Friday, Sept. 16. Looking to remain undefeated, kick-off is scheduled for 8:15 p.m with the match set to be streamed on
OUA.TV.
