Brock upsets No. 10 nationally ranked Western

LONDON - Claiming their third consecutive win, the Brock Badgers women's soccer team produced a 1-0 victory over the No. 10 nationally ranked Western Mustangs in London on Thursday evening.

A quiet first half saw the Badgers fail to register a shot on goal, while Western mustered four shots on Brock keep Emma Hendrie. The fourth-year veteran would turn aside every attempt on goal for the Mustangs and went on to earn her second clean sheet during this three game win streak for the Badgers.

Finding their offence after the break, the game-winning goal came early in the second half as third-year forward Erica D'Alesio would get the ball past the Western keeper in the 56th minute. Following the marker Brock was able to hold back the nationally ranked opponents defensively to finish out the remaining 30 minutes of action.

With the win over the OUA West leading Mustangs, the Badgers propelled themselves up the standings to second in the West, sitting in a tie with the Guelph Gryphons who also hold four wins on the season. Brock will look to continue their climb with another match versus Western this Sunday, Sept. 25 back home at Alumni Field. Kick off for the match is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the game also being streamed on OUA.TV.
