ST CATHARINES - Earning their second straight win, the Brock Badgers women's rugby team delivered a dominant performance defeating the visiting York Lions 59-12 on Saturday afternoon.
Welcoming a large contingent of former Badgers back to Alumni Field as part of Homecoming Weekend festivities, the women's team were spurred on by the support on both the sideline and in the stands.
Eight different Badgers players recorded a try in the victory, led by two from
Tess Armstrong. Adding single markers for Brock were
Jordyn Pitt,
Olivia Van Wart,
Jessica Darby,
Jordan Smith,
Maia Swemmer,
Abigail Wade, and
Grace Dale.
The scoring was rounded out by Brock athlete of the week
Paige DeNeve who delivered seven successful converts for 14 total points.
The complete team effort also saw strong defensive tackling performances from Armstrong, Wade,
Chihinga Palata, and
Laura Brown.
Brock will look to continue their momentum in front of the home crowd next facing the Toronto Varsity Blues at Alumni Field on Saturday, Oct. 1. Kick off for the home contest is set for 1 p.m. with the match also being streamed live on OUA.TV
