ST CATHARINES - Hosting the Laurier Golden Hawks at the new Canada Games Park, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team picked up a 5-3 exhibition win on Friday night.
Winning the third game of the preseason, the Badgers were lifted by their power play which resulted in two of the three second period goals scored by Brock.
After the Golden Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period,
Cole Tymkin tied the game with just under 5 minutes remaining before the intermission.
Then in the second period the Badgers offence came to life as both
Jared Marino and
Justin Brack scored power play markers.. Second period scoring was rounded out by another marker from Brack as the Badgers took a commanding 4-1 lead into the third period.
Laurier nearly got back into it, cutting the lead to 4-3 after scoring two third period goals. However, Marino delivered the nail with an empty-net goal for his second of the game. Marino led all Badgers with three points on the night, registering an assist on Brack's power play goal, while
Cole Thiessen added two assist for Brock in the win.

Aidan Hughes made 21 saves, while Christian Propp recorded 34 for Laurier.
Preseason action continues for Brock tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Oshawa to face the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
