Badgers defence dominant versus winless Thunderbirds

SAULT STE. MARIE – Making the long trip north to Sault Ste. Marie, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team earned a convincing 69-41 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night.
 
The Badgers defence was dominant in the road contest holding the home team to just two points in the second quarter and three points scored in the fourth. Brock held Algoma to just 25 percent shooting through all four quarters, while also outrebounding the Thunderbirds 55-32.
 
Offensively, 10 Badgers made a bucket in the win led by 19 points and 13 rebounds for second-year sensation Madalyn Weinert. Marking her fifth double-double of the season, Weinert registered three assists, four steals, and three blocks to round out her stat line. 

Also reaching double-digits for Brock, Theresa Brown added 14, while Allison Addy chipped in 14 of the Badgers 26 points off the bench.
 
The Thunderbirds were paced by Karly Fracalanza who finished the evening with nine points, six rebounds, three assists, four steals, and one block.
 
Brock will look to record their third straight win next Wednesday, Jan. 18 when they host the McMaster Marauders at Bob Davis Gym. Tip-off for the home contest is set for 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at brocku.universitytickets.com, while the game will also be available online via OUA.tv.
