Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Joshua Martins

Brock cruise past lowly Laurier

THOROLD - The Brock Badgers women's hockey team easily secured a win against the Laurier Golden Hawks with a final score of 3-1 at Canada Games Park on Friday night.

After scoring the first goal of the contest at the 10 minute, it would also be the last for the Golden Hawks before the Badgers took over.

Brock stayed in the driver seat all throughout the first two periods with a total of 19 shots on goal compared to a mere 13 by the Golden Hawks. Two of these shots translated to goals thanks to forwards Claudia Murphy and Madison Cronkwright. For Murphy, this marks the fifth straight game she has scored for the Badgers as she has lifted herself into the team-lead for points accumulating six goals and three assists so far this season.

To top it all off, fellow forward Mikayla Flanagan found the back of the net after a beautiful tip-in during the third period to send the Golden Hawks home for good.

The Badgers defensive unit contributed all four assists on the night courtesy Ella Krushelnicki, Kaitlyn Colonna, Rebekah Feld, and Paige Cohoon. Brock goaltender Kenzie Harmison stopped 22 of 23 total Laurier shots.

As for the Golden Hawks, Kylie Laliberte scored the only goal of the contest, while goalie Kayla Renaud made 21 saves.

The Badgers will look to pick up another win tomorrow evening as they complete a back-to-back versus the Toronto Varsity Blues. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. The full game can be streamed on OUA.TV.
