ST. CATHARINES - Behind a career night by
Madalyn Weinert, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team completed a 69-62 come-from-behind victory over the visiting York Lions on Saturday night at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Recording her 12th double-digit scoring performance of the season, the second-year sensation notched a new career-high 34 points in 40 minutes of action. In addition to her offensive output, the St. Catharines native also delivered at the defensive end with a new single-game career-high five blocks. To round out her stat line for the night, Weinert added nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Aiding in the come-from-behind effort, which saw the Badgers down by 11 in the second half,
Theresa Brown and
Olivia Fiorucci notched 14 and 8 points, while the team defense came to life holding the Lions to just six total points scored in the third quarter.
Jada Codrington topped the Lions with 19 points, including five three-point field goals.
The Badgers will next take a trip up north to challenge the Nipissing Lakers in North Bay on Friday, Jan. 27. Tip off for the road game is set for 6 p.m. All the action can be streamed online at
