NORTH BAY - Making the long trip north to face off with Nipissing in North Bay, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team earned a 67-53 victory over the Lakers on Friday night.
Behind the strength of a 24-point second quarter, and with a third quarter which saw the Badgers defence hold the Lakers to just six total points, Brock built up a 20-point lead late in the fourth quarter which the Lakers could not respond too. The win marks the third victory for the Badgers in their last four games.
On the court, the Badgers offence was guided by a team-high 15 points in 20 minutes from
Olivia Fiorucci, who finished the night with three of the 10 total three-point field goals made. Second-year standout
Madalyn Weinert also registered her sixth double-double of the season adding 11 points and 12 rebounds, along with eight rebounds, two blocks, and one steal. Adding scoring from the bench,
Noor Bazzi registered 11 points in just 13 minutes for the Badgers as well. Nine Badgers in total recorded a basket made in the win.
Nicole Budd was the lone Laker to register double-digits finishing with 12 points on 4-for-21 shooting from the field.
Brock remain in northern Ontario next challenging the Laurentian Voyageurs tomorrow evening in Sudbury. Tip off for the road game is set for 6 p.m. All the action can be streamed online at
