WATERLOO – Adam Berg scored twice and the Brock Badgers defeated the Waterloo Warriors 6-2 to capture their fourth consecutive victory in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) men's hockey play.
Berg's pair of goals extends his point streak to 11 games. The fourth-year forward from Calgary has 10 goals and 20 points in that stretch, which includes five multi-point performances.
No goals were scored in the first period, although the Badgers had a decisive 10-2 edge in the shot column.
The Warriors broke open the scoring with a power-play goal five minutes into the period. The Badgers would go on to score four unanswered during the rest of the period. Berg's goals increase his team lead to 14, and
Tyler Rollo and
Jordan Stock each tallied their third of the season. The Badgers outshot the Warriors 13-5 in the second frame.
Justin Brack and
Tyler Burnie each added a goal to the Badgers' total in the third period to give them a five-goal cushion. Waterloo got one back before the end of the period, but by then it was too little too late.
Brock goalie
Roman Basran saved 24 shots to win his second game in as many days, while Dan Murphy stopped 27 for Waterloo.
The Badgers start next weekend on the road when they travel to Toronto to face the Varsity Blues on Friday, Feb. 3. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be streamed online via
