TORONTO – The Brock Badgers men's hockey took down the Toronto Varsity Blues in spectacular fashion on Friday night, winning by a final score of 4-3 in Toronto.
The victory marked the fifth straight for the Badgers and came as a result of a
Jacob Roach game-winning goal with only a minute left to play in the third period.
Prior to the last minute excitement, the Badgers surrendered the first goal of the game to Toronto five minutes into the period, but
Cole Thiessen evened things up midway through the frame as he finished off a nice 2-on-1 rush with
Tyler Rollo. The Varsity Blues would retake the lead with a powerplay goal right before the end of the first.
The second period was all Badgers as
Frankie Pucci scored on the powerplay early in the period putting a clean wrist shot past Toronto's goaltender Jett Alexander.
Justin Brack then added another powerplay goal from the top of the crease to give the Badgers a 3-2 lead late in the frame.
Toronto scored early in the third period to tie the game, which led to the eventual late game heroics from Roach marking his 10th goal of the season.
Roman Basran started between the pipes for Brock and continued his hot streak stopping 33 shots to pick up his fifth win in six starts. Alexander had 37 saves for Toronto.
The Badgers' next game is back on home ice when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday, Feb. 4. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tickets can be bought online at
University Tickets and the game can be streamed online via
