The Brock women's basketball team couldn't solve the undefeated No. 3 Queen's Gaels in its first game back from the holiday break.

The Badgers fell 74-45 to the Gaels in Kingston during their first meeting since the 2022 U SPORTS Final 8 bronze-medal game.

Madalyn Weinert led Brock in scoring with 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Theresa Brown posted 11 points while
Noor Bazzi and
Keren Tshinyama Kasonga each added eight points. Tshinyama Kasonga contributed a game-high three steals.

Queen's opened the first quarter with a 15-7 before the Badgers battled back with their highest scoring frame in the second with 17 points.

The Badgers shot 28.8 per cent (17-of-59) opposite the Gaels' 36.2 per cent (25-of-69). Julia Chadwick of the Gaels led all scorers with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Brock looks to bounce back when the team travels to Oshawa to face off against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. The game will be online via
