OSHAWA – Second-year guard
Jordan Tchuente recorded his fourth double-double of the season and the No. 4 Brock men's basketball team secured its first win of the new year with a 69-65 road victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Tchuente netted 14 points and added 13 rebounds while third-year guard
Isaiah Bujdoso led the offence with 22 points. He added eight boards and two assists.
After the Badgers couldn't score for a stretch of six minutes in the fourth, second-year shooting guard
Michael Okeke tallied five consecutive free throws to give Brock the lead with less than a minute remaining.
Tchuente, Bujdoso and
Daniel Caldwell also converted their free throws as the Ridgebacks desperately fouled in the dying seconds of the game.
Caldwell filled the scoresheet with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Badgers started slow by scoring only 12 points in the first quarter and found themselves trailing 37-32 at halftime.
Brock worked their way back into the game by dominating offensive boards, 18-6, and converting 14 second-chance points.
In a scrappy contest, the Badgers forced 23 personal fouls on the Ridgebacks as they recorded 23-of-30 (76.7 per cent) from the free throw line.
For the Ridgebacks, Jayden Coke and Stefan Prica scored 28 and 26 points, respectively.
