The Brock Badgers women's soccer team took on the No. 9 ranked Western Mustangs in Wednesday night action and suffered a close 1-0 defeat.
Neither could find the score sheet in the first half, with Western having multiple corner kick opportunities that were ultimately denied by a stingy Brock defence. Sophomore midfielder Lily Jarvis had the lone Brock shot on net in the first half.
Forward Sabrina Bisante fired a shot on goal that was denied by Western goalie Samantha St. Croix in the 64th minute. Western found the back of the net a few minutes later off the foot of Mara Sanauceanu.
The Badgers were unable to find the equalizer in the second half.
Up next, the Badgers (3-4-2) will take on the Laurier Golden Hawks (5-3-2) in a continuation of a postponed game from Sept. 17. The game will start in the 68th minute, with the Badgers down 2-1 and will start at 7 p.m.
