The Nipissing Lakers spoiled the Brock Badgers home opener at Canada Games Park in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's hockey action on Sunday, Oct. 22.
 
The No. 7 nationally-ranked Lakers skated away with a 5-0 victory as the Badgers suffered their first loss of the season after defeating the No. 3 Toronto Varsity Blues the previous night.
 
The scoring got underway in the first period when Tessa Kosec found the back of the net. The momentum carried into the second period when Katie Chomiak capitalized on a power play, extending Nipissing's lead to 2-0. Emma Neff furthered their advantage with another goal.
 
In the third, Nipissing continued to press with Malory Dominico scoring on the power play. The Lakers sealed their victory with Madison Laberge netting a goal.
 
Maggie McKee was a standout performer for Nipissing, notching three assists, while netminder Chantelle Sandquist showcased her goaltending skills, maintaining a shutout throughout the game.
 
Nipissing outshot Brock 36-13.
