Game Recap: Women's Hockey | | Aidan Cvetich

Badgers bounce back with road win over Lions

The Brock Badgers women's hockey team was able to snap a mini two-game losing streak by defeating the York Lions 2-0 in Toronto on Saturday (Oct. 28) night.

The first period saw the Badgers create some good scoring chances and even though they took two penalties, were able to out-shoot the Lions 7-4 in the frame.

Brock was looking very energized for it being the second night of a back-to-back as they were forcing York turnovers early and often, but the first period ended deadlocked at 0-0.

That deadlock did not last for long though as third-year defender Mia Landry broke the tie just over two minutes into the second period.

The Badgers came down the ice with a 3-on-2 rush and Landry was able to corral the rebound from a Julianna Parks' shot before tucking it into the open net for her first goal in a Brock uniform.

Steady play from the Badgers and some great saves by goaltender Kenzie Harmison saw the Badgers end the second period leading 1-0.

In the third, Brock was able to double their lead four minutes into the frame courtesy of their top scorer.

Randyll Strongman was sprung on a partial-breakaway and her wrist-shot produced a huge rebound that fourth-year defender Madelyn Walsh pounced on, scoring to give Brock a 2-0 lead.

Harmison and the Badger defence were able to hold strong the rest of the way securing a 2-0 shutout win for Brock.

Walsh's goal was her fourth in just five games so far this season which ties her for the lead in the OUA and is the solo-lead among defenders.

Harmison recorded her second shutout of the year which is the most in the league to date.

Next up, the Badgers (3-2-0) will travel to Guelph for a matchup against the University of Guelph Gryphons (4-0-0) on Thursday (Nov. 2). Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM.
