The Brock Badgers women's soccer team earned two all-star selections as Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced their major award winners and all-stars on Wednesday, November 1.
Both Grace Tawil and Sabrina Bisante were given second team all-star nods, capping off a Badgers' season that saw them make the playoffs for a second straight year.
"I am so incredibly proud of Grace and Sabrina for being named all-stars," said head coach Carli Tingstad. "They are two very deserving recipients and the recognition is a testament to the tireless work they have both dedicated to not only making themselves but our entire program better."
Tawil, a two-time captain, earns her first-ever all-star nomination in her final year as a Badger. The Mathematics and Statistics major has been an integral part of the Badgers' defence all season, playing at the crucial centre back position. The Jordan Station, Ont product is an essential part of Brock's starting lineup, starting every game and playing every minute during Brock's regular season and playoff run. Tawil is charged with taking on the conference's top strikers and mitigating their impact on the field while also being the starting point of the majority of offensive chances for the Badgers.
A dynamic offensive player, Bisante is a third-year winger who notched two assists and finished tied for the team lead with five goals. The Caledon native had a career-high four-goal effort against the Algoma Thunderbirds on October 1 and notched the game winner in a 1-0 win over Waterloo five days later. Bisante creates space well for herself and her teammates through her strong dribbling skills and top-notch speed. On top of the skills she brings to the field, she is another leader Tingstad can rely on in the locker room.
