Cole Tymkin's four points led the way with four points as the No. 5 Brock Badgers men's hockey team picked up their fourth consecutive win on Friday, Nov, 10 beating the Waterloo Warriors 5-1.
Waterloo opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the game off a nifty play from Warriors' forward Nate Bierd.
The Badgers made the score level through second-year defenceman
Zachary Taylor who scored his fourth goal of the season on the power play.
Near the end of the first period, a point shot from Tymkin found it's way through traffic before a well-positioned
Justin Brack cleaned up the mess in front of the net to put the Badgers up 2-1 in the opening frame.
The second period saw Waterloo try vigorously to tie up the game but first-year goaltender
Connor Ungar stood tall as he stopped all 15 shots he faced in the second period.
A more entertaining third period was on the cards as the Badgers added to their lead halfway through the period. Tymkin had some nice movement in the offensive zone and was able to needle a pass through to Hamilton native
Jordan Stock down low in the slot who scored to make the scoreline 3-1 for Brock.
With a little over six minutes to go in the third period, some nice passing from the Badgers resulted in a fourth goal, putting the game out of reach for Waterloo. Tymkin once again was able to create space on the attack, finding sophomore
Tyler Burnie who then fed the puck over to goa lscorer
Jacob Roach, making it 4-1 Brock.
To ice the game, a well-worked clearance from Sport Management major
Matthew Barnes allowed for Roach and Tymkin to find themselves on a 2-on-1 with the latter finishing off the play to make it 5-1 for the Brock Badgers.
The win over the Warriors keeps the No. 5 Badgers atop the OUA West Division.
Ungar now has an OUA-leading ten wins on the season, stopping 44 shots in the game.
It was a big night for Tymkin as well who recorded four points, including his first goal of the season. Roach was able to continue his strong run of form, picking up his fifth goal in his last four games.
Up next, the Brock Badgers (10-1-0) return to Canada Games Park as they host the Laurier Golden Hawks (3-6-1) on Sunday, November 12 at 2 p.m. You can catch the action on OUA.tv.
