In their second of back-to-back games, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to the nationally ranked Toronto Varsity Blues at Canada Games Park on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The Blues didn't take long to gain the lead, scoring at the 1:37 mark off the stick of Sophie Grawbarger.
Brock had a five-on-three power-play opportunity minutes later but were unable to take advantage.
Shots were even at 10 each after 20 minutes of play with the score remaining 1-0 in favour of Toronto.
The Blues exploded for three goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead as Emma Irwin, Juliette Blais-Savoie and Aubrey Cole all scored their firsts of the year.
In the second, 10 penalties were handed out with Toronto ending with six and Brock with four. The Badgers had a great chance with a four-on-three power play but like in the first, they were unable to capitalize.
The third period saw neither team earn a goal.
Toronto out shot the Badgers 32-30 and scored on one of their ten power-play opportunities. The Badgers on the other hand were unable to score on their 10 power-play chances and were shut out for the first time of the season.
Up next, the Badgers (5-4-0-2) travel to London on Thursday, Nov. 23 to take on the Western Mustangs (5-4-0-1). The game can be viewed on OUA.tv.
