The No. 3 nationally ranked Brock Badgers men's hockey team fell 5-2 to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, Nov. 25 in Waterloo.
Jordan Stock and Jonah Boria scored one goal each for the Badgers.
Just minutes into the first period, a shot from the point found its way through traffic, putting the Golden Hawks up by one. The Badgers successfully killed off two important penalty kills in the first and were able to swing momentum in their favour. Despite being down a goal after one period, Brock was able to more than double the Golden Hawks' shots 12-5.
A short-handed goal off a breakaway gave the Golden Hawks a 2-0 lead over the Badgers midway through the second. The Golden Hawks were able to push their lead to three near the end of the 40 minutes. With 27 seconds to go in the middle frame, the Badgers pulled one back through Boria, a sophomore defenceman, on an end-to-end rush.
Laurier increased their lead back to three early in the final period. A short-handed goal from Stock rounded out the Badgers' scoring. The Golden Hawks added one more late in the third.
Brock fired 46 shots on net as compared to Laurier's 26 in the contest.
