Badgers rally from behind for win against Lions

The Brock Badgers men's basketball team hosted their second straight day of Ontario University Athletics (OUA) action on Saturday, November 4 where they got a 76-69 win against the visiting York Lions.

York came out hot shooting the ball in this one, quickly jumping out to a 9-3 lead over the Badgers.

Senior forward Jordan Tchuente attempted to spark the Badgers' offence with a monstrous dunk on a partial breakaway opportunity. Tchuente's efforts helped the Badgers reduced the Lions lead to 18-16 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second, Brock tried to get their offence going but were having trouble creating high-percentage scoring opportunities.

A big three by senior guard Jevon Brown with less than a minute left in the half kept the Badgers within shooting distance. York led 37-29 after the second quarter.

The third quarter saw Brock get rolling offensively as many Badgers started chipping in to whittle down the York advantage. First year Badgers Davanté Hackett, Nemanja Sarkanovic and Andrew Mckenna all came off the bench to help provide a spark for Brock on offence and defence.

By the end of the third quarter the Badgers were looking much stronger and were leading the game 55-48.

The Badgers would not give up the lead for the rest of the game. Guards Isaiah Bujdoso and Kevaughn Ellis both hit huge three-pointers to help Brock maintain their lead in the fourth.

Georges Mfwamba Ngandu provided the exclamation mark on Brock's win, slamming down a huge breakaway dunk in the final minute.

Brock ended up with the victory by a score of 76-69.

Mfwamba Ngandu led the way for Brock tonight, scoring 14 points and adding five rebounds. Tchuente also had a strong game posting 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.

Next up, the Badgers will travel to Toronto on Saturday, November 11 for their first road game of the season against the Toronto Metropolitan Bold (1-1) at 3 p.m.
