On Friday, Dec. 1, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team hosted the Waterloo Warriors at Canada Games Park with the visitors taking the contest 3-1.
Sophomore forward Jenna Duarte continued her recent hot streak, scoring for the second time in the last three games. The Psychology major's fifth of the year was the lone goal for the Badgers.
Waterloo's Tatum Jones got the scoring started, putting in her fifth of the year on the power play at the 5:01 mark of the first period.
In the second period, Waterloo continued to add the pressure, finding the back of the net twice courtesy of Leah Herrfort and Faith Mitchell. Brock put up eight shots in the frame but were unable to find the score sheet.
Duarte's goal near the midway point of the third period cut the Warriors' advantage to just two goals. The Badgers had a late power-play opportunity but were unable to capitalize.
Waterloo used a strong power play to take the contest, scoring on two of their five chances while Brock was not able to take advantage of their four power-play opportunities.
Up next, the Badgers (5-7-0-2) will start back up on Friday, Jan. 5 as they travel to Oshawa to take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks (3-7-1-2) at 7 p.m. You can watch the game on OUA.tv.
