WINDSOR - Making the long trip to Windsor to begin a two-game road swing, the No. 4 nationally ranked Brock Badgers men's basketball team fell 88-75 versus the Windsor Lancers on Friday night.
A competitive contest with both teams tied 19-19 at the end of the first quarter, the Lancers were able to pull away during a 25-5 scoring run in the third, eventually outscoring Brock 32-13 in the period. Despite the 27-point gap late in the third quarter, the Badgers did put together a late game surge closing to within 10 points with one minute remaining, but time ran out on the comeback attempt.
Marking just the fourth loss of the season for the Badgers, Brock now sits in a three-way tie for second place in the OUA alongside Carleton and Queen's with identical 15-4 records. Meanwhile, Windsor sits just one game back of the pack at 14-5 as a late season push begins for playoff seeding with just three regular season contests remaining on the schedule. The top 12 teams in the OUA qualify for the postseason, with the top four all receiving a first round bye.
On the court,
Jevon Brown converted 4-of-6 three point field goals en route to a team-high 20 points for the Badgers on Friday night. Brown also added six rebounds, one assist, and two steals to round out his stat line. Badgers starting point guard
Isaiah Bujdoso also hit double-digits on the night, finishing with 19 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Additionally energy was brought off the bench by
Xavier Fearon who shot an efficient 3-for-5 notching six points in just 13 minutes of action.
For the Lancers, the combination of Thomas Kennedy and Najee Brown-Henderson proved lethal in the victory, as Kennedy recorded a 24 point and 15 rebound double-double, while Brown-Henderson added 23 points including five made three-pointers.
Continuing their sprint to the postseason, Brock will look to rebound immediately as they face off with the Western Mustangs tomorrow evening in London. Friday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. with the action livestreamed on
