WINDSOR – The Brock Badgers women's basketball team suffered a 63-46 road loss to the Windsor Lancers on Friday night in Windsor.
The loss drops the Badgers record to 10-9 on the season placing them in a three-way tie with the Lancers and Western for eight place in the OUA with three games remaining. The top 12 teams qualify for playoffs, with the top four receiving a first round bye.
In the Friday night contest, the Badgers struggled to keep the Lancers off the boards, being out-rebounded 47-27 on the night. Brock did find success defensively forcing Windsor into 18 turnovers and scoring 14 off turnovers, but it wouldn't be enough to keep up with the home side.
Second-year standout
Madalyn Weinert was the lone Badger to reach double-digits on the night, finishing with a game-high 19 points, while adding seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Coming off the bench,
Oluwatito Akinnusi added nine points for Brock, with
Olivia Fiorucci tallying eight points.
Vanessa Budimundi led the charge for the Lancers, scoring a team-high 18 points and grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action.Harriet Carey added 15 off the bench, including four three-point field goals.
With the battle for playoff positioning intensifying, the Badgers will look to bounce back and secure a late season victory over Western tomorrow. The game in London is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m., with all the action livestreamed on
