ST. CATHARINES – Challenging a surging TMU Bold at the Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday night, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team finished on the wrong side of a 67-53 loss.
Entering the Friday night showdown, TMU had won six consecutive games, riding a wave of momentum heading into a finale home-and-home series with the Badgers ahead of the OUA postseason. With the loss, the Badgers record dipped to 11-10 placing them in ninth place in the OUA. For the postseason, the top 12 teams qualify with the top four all receiving a first round bye.
Unable to slow down the quick transition Bold, Brock quickly found themselves battling from behind, eventually trailing by as much as 21 in the third quarter.
Delivering their best in the fourth and final quarter, first-year forward
Oluwatito Akinnusi topped all Badgers on the night with 10 points off the bench, adding four rebounds,, two assists, and two steals to round out her stat line. Being held to single-digit scoring for the first time since November 25,
Madalyn Weinert chipped in another nine points in 18 minutes of action, while both
Olivia Fiorucci and
Kaley DeMont added eight points apiece.
TMU's Jayme Foreman delivered a game-high 19 points in the win, while both Rachel Farwell and Haley Fedick recorded double-doubles for the Bold.
