WINDSOR - Traveling to Windsor for the first round of the OUA Critelli Cup playoffs, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team secured a stunning 61-58 victory over the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night.
The victory sends the Badgers into the next round of the OUA postseason, reaching the OUA quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season.
In the mid-week playoff showdown, Brock utilized a 24-10 second quarter surge to jump ahead of the home side 34-25 at the half.
The nine point halftime lead would prove to be the largest for either side as Windsor bounced back in the second half and drew even with the Badgers heading into the closing minute.
Tied with just 19 seconds remaining on the clock, the Badgers put together a strong offensive sequence which saw
Noor Bazzi set up
Kaley DeMont for a corner three that put Brock ahead for good with just nine ticks remaining.
Bazzi was sensational for the Badgers, with the outside sharpshooter finishing the night with 12 points off the bench for Brock. Assisting Bazzi off the bench, both
Chloe Peters and
Madison MacInnis delivered strong interior play for the Badgers notching eight and seven points apiece. All together Brock outscored the Lancers 35-26 in bench points.
